“SEMI KOREAN SPRAY GIRL” BY MICHAŁ KNYCHAUS ON THE BUS STOPS IN KALISZ

Semi Korean Spray Girl is a digital collage. The fusion of various, seemingly unrelated elements, compose an artwork by Michał Knychaus – an untamed world that forms itself in front of the spectator. Fragments of this reality talk with each other, build their own meanings (mythologies) and a new esthetics announcing a cultural turn. Elements lacking their original context connect together to tell new stories. This artistic tactic refers not only to what is visible but also to the title of the artwork – a collage made of words.

Semi Korean Spray Girl is composed from a series of photos made by Michał Knychaus with a traditional camera and a PrintScreen button.

Michał Knychaus is a student of The Art University in Poznań and a graduate of History of Culture at Adam Mickiewicz University. During the last few years he has been combining artistic activity with distant journeys. His work has a transmedial character – he uses digital graphics, actions in space and new media. Many of his pieces are related to skateboard culture and experimental graffiti.
